Tower of Joan of Arc
Your walls are gone
Your creators are not
here
to protect you
to defend you
from the modern age.
Once a castle
with extensive grounds
Now reduced
to a single
turret.
Standing stoically
alone
in a sea
of modern
charades.
The Ancient Queen
Boudica!
Naked warrior, Queen of the Iceni
how could you ride bareback
bare naked
in the frigid cold?
Conquering lands
only to be vanquished
but not without legend made.
Your name
haunts the regions.
Your audacity
Your strength
Your fight against the Roman world.
Yet, one cannot fight
Progress
and expect to
win.
Mud ruts will
never
outrun
paved highways.
Youngblood
The
older
one gets
the less
Ambitious
one
becomes.
I no
longer
wonder
How
twenty
year olds
Conquer
the
World.
Believe What They Believers
Lighthouses,
caves,
or desert niches
all holy men will find their places
to grow their beards long
and make their minds wise
and invent new religions
at their own devise.
Modern man
owes all his beliefs
to these far-flung places
and to these men
who have never
shown their faces.

No one looked for you in your head
for no one could get in there.
But you were not to be found there anyway.
You were outside of yourself.
Someplace,
anyplace
but the place you were expected to be.
Inside
We went from nothing
to something
until you missed the
nothing
that you still felt
inside.
You removed the
me
from you
Searching for that
emptiness
that you thought was still
inside of you
Only to realize
that removing something
from nothing
invariably leaves a
little
some
thing
behind.
